Our Process

For years, landscape designer Susan Redmond and her team have been transforming outdoor spaces throughout greater Boston into remarkable landscapes that provide year-round pleasure.

Once a landscape design is created and the proposal is signed, the Redmond Design Group team of landscape installers, masons and other in-house craftsman go to work. Our designers oversee the construction process in conjunction with our construction foreman ensuring a timely and well planned out approach to the design implementation. We pride ourselves on keeping the work-site clean each night, active communication with our clients about the job progress and work on one project at a time.

We have capabilities of all site work, plant installation, masonry installation, fencing, lighting and water features. What we offer is a one-stop company – supervising the sequencing of each facet of the landscape installation and giving the homeowner the peace of mind they deserve.

Conceptual Design

This is the simplest level of design. The designer will take all site measurements and note soil conditions. The designer will then create one or two quick conceptual designs and present the designs to the client. This level of design is ideal for those who are not looking for great detail, but are more interested in the ideas themselves.

Master Plan Level 1

This level of design is the most popular for homeowners. A master plan consists of three client/designer meetings. The first meeting consists of a more in depth discussion of the property, site analysis and gathering of pertinent information. At this point the designer will create two or three different options to be discussed at the second meeting. The second meeting is where the bulk of the work is accomplished. At this meeting the homeowner and designer review ideas, plant selections, and hardscape materials. Budgets are also discussed at this time so proper materials are chosen. The designer then refines the design with the information into a master plan. At the final meeting, the scaled master plan will be presented with an itemized installation package.

Master Plan Level 2

This level of design is an advanced level of design. This type of master plan is used in large-scale residential design or projects requiring extensive grading and construction drawings. The amount of meeting time is directly related to the project complexity. This level of design is recommended to the homeowner who wants a very detailed plan for installation direction, a plan that will be put out to bid or a plan for a large project, which involves phasing. Detailed drawings and specifications accompany this level of design. An extensive pricing package also accompanies this design level.
